Star Trades Help Manual

Trade Depots
The Trade Depots are situated in Star Systems of all sizes, inhabited by all kinds of alien creatures. Each depot can trade in a variety of commodities.

Each depot may trade in many different types of commodities, listed in the Galactic Map and in the pulldown list for that depot. Sometimes illegal commodities are listed, but they are still illegal and the local law enforcement will attempt to find and confiscate them.

Each depot has a Law Level that indicates how strictly the local law enforcement guards against pirates and smuggling. Running illegal commodities into a depot with Oppressive law enforcement is a very risky business indeed, but Loose Law Level is an invitation to smuggling. Pirates operating near Strict or Oppressive Star Systems are more likely to be caught and imprisioned.

Certain depots produce or consume commodities, others just trade them. Finding depots that produce a particular commodity means opportunity to buy cheaply, and similarly, Star Systems that consume a particular commodity will be more likely to pay higher prices for it. For this reason, depots do not publish detailed production/consumption data, but the astute trader will figure it out quickly. In addition, depots change their trade commodities or production/consumption from time to time, so it is wise to keep an eye out for a new opportunity.
