Mercenary Pirates
Mercenary Pirates abound in the Kentaran Galaxy. They come in two flavors, those that randomly attack and those who are hired to attack.

Regardless of whether you decide to jump into the pirate lifestyle yourself, you can enlist the help of mercenary pirates to do your dirty work. If a particular rival company is causing you distress, you have the option to hire mercenary pirates to attack the ships of that company at a cost of 30,000 credits per attack. Hired pirates can be fought off, but not bribed.

On the other hand, if you wish to protect yourself from an attack by random mercenary pirates, you can allocate credits to any of your Cargo Ships to offer to mercenary pirates as a bribe in lieu of stealing your cargo. When attacked, your ship will first attempt to fight off the pirates and if unsuccessful, will then attempt to bribe them.

To hire pirates to attack a company, click on Covert Operations on the left navigation menu. From here, select the company you wish to harass, and specify how many times you want them attacked.

You can use this same page to allocate credits to your Cargo Ships in case you are attacked by random mercenary pirates. Simply specify how many credits you want to give to any Cargo Ship to use in attempts to bribe off possible attacks. You can't buy off all pirate attacks, but offering less than 800 credits will most likely just insult them.
